Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a therapeutic modality that helps identify how our thoughts, emotions, & behaviour are linked or how they may be misaligned. CBT seeks to lower distress and get rid of problematic thoughts through a process of cognitive restructuring (changing thought patterns). CBT has an extensive evidence-base that supports its usage and there are several adaptation models in therapy to treat specific conditions.

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy is a third-wave CBT modality that focuses on behaviour. Rather than trying to decrease distress, DBT aims to increase individual distress tolerance. While also improving interpersonal relationships, and improving emotional regulation. It is a powerful modality that impacts all areas of life. DBT is clinically effective to manage dangerous and dysfunctional behaviour over time while increasing useage of pragmatic skills.

Please feel free to enquire about group therapy programs that may be delivered in person or online. We offer DBT-skill groups, drug and alcohol group programs, and mood groups.

Radically Open - Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (RO-DBT)

Influenced from DBT, Radically Open - Dialectical Behavioural Therapy is designed to meet the needs of disorders that subscribe to having overcontrol behaviours (i.e. specific eating disorders, OCD, hoarding, amongst others). RO-DBT focuses on increasing social connectedness and increasing flexibility to have a better quality of life.

SMART Recovery Model

SMART Recovery stands for Self-Management and Recovery Training. It focuses on supporting clients to manage their own addictions with a harm-minimisation approach. SMART recovery focuses on achieving a lifestyle balance and supporting the values and goals of individuals through weekly delivery.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT is a psychotherapy that stems from third-wave CBT practices. It is unique as it focuses on supporting clients to be directed in towards the values that give their life meaning. ACT has several defusion strategies in managing intrusive thoughts and behaviours. ACT also focuses on mindfulness practice to support better management of thoughts and move towards acceptance.
